The Structure of King Lear's Act 5 Scene 3

A tragedy written in 1608 by William Shakespeare, in which Lear, the protagonist, fails to share his lands fairly amidst his three daughters when he banishes his favourite daughter. Combining the themes of madness, conclusion, sight and nature, the play ends with the tragic conclusion of Lears fairest daughter, Cordelia. Her death is so overwhelming for the king Lears grief changes and develops during the final scene. In the final scenes, Lear goes through non-homogeneous phases of grief for Cordelias death. At first, theres a sense of hope and expectation in the prelude, when he dialogue to her about being in prison, being happy and in conclusion being to pressher. Then he falls into the arcminute form of disbelief and shock when Cordelia dies, and later on in the scene, he slips into the third stage in which he is specially hot under the collar(predicate) and slightly mad. His fourth and final stage of grief is his espousal of her death, and then finally, his death. In the prelude, Lear is speaking of the carriage that he and Cordelia bequeath have in prison, and how peaceful it will be when he says No, no, no, no! Come, lets off to prisonWe devil alone will sing standardised birds ith cage. Here, Shakespeare is trying to show the limit between this scene and the opposite in which Cordelia has died. Shakespeare questions Lears state of instinct here.
